Maddie and Jake’s December wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville, Maryland delivered all of that and more.

From emotional first looks to a snowy surprise and one of the most incredible sunsets I’ve ever photographed, their day was filled with genuine love, laughter, and a reception that turned into an all-out celebration. If you’re planning an Eastern Shore wedding or looking for inspiration for a Chesapeake Bay wedding, this one is special.

A December Wedding at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club

The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club is one of the most sought-after venues for a Chesapeake Bay wedding. Located in Stevensville, Maryland on the Eastern Shore, it offers the perfect combination of coastal elegance and stunning waterfront views.

Even in December, the venue shines. With cozy indoor spaces, beautiful ceremony locations, and panoramic views of the bay, it’s an incredible place for couples who want both comfort and scenery for their wedding day.

Maddie and Jake chose to hold their ceremony indoors while taking portraits outside along the waterfront grounds. The winter air was crisp, but the views of the bay and the incredible sunset later in the day made every moment outside completely worth it.

Getting Ready at the Inn at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club

The day began at 10:30am with getting ready photos at The Inn at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, which is just steps away from the main venue.

This location is perfect for wedding mornings. The rooms are filled with soft natural light, making it ideal for capturing those quiet moments before the celebration begins—details, laughter with bridesmaids, and the anticipation building before the ceremony.

But one of the most emotional moments of the entire day happened before Maddie even saw Jake.

A Sweet First Look with Her Brothers

At 12:00pm, Maddie shared a first look with her brothers, and it was one of the sweetest moments I’ve ever photographed.  They each read lettings to each other and ended with some shots ;)

The love they have for their sister was so clear. Their reactions were filled with pride, excitement, and just a little disbelief that their little sister was getting married. These are the kinds of moments that make weddings unforgettable—the genuine emotion between family members.

Everyone was smiling, tearing up, and hugging. It set the tone for what would become a deeply emotional day.

A Snowy and Emotional First Look

At 12:30pm, Maddie and Jake shared their first look.

And right as it began… it started snowing.

It was completely unexpected and incredibly magical. The snowflakes falling around them added this quiet, romantic atmosphere that made the moment feel even more special.

It was also very cold—but you never would have known by the way they looked at each other. They warmed each other up with laughter, sweet words, and the kind of love that’s impossible to fake.  Jake even had a difficult time keeping it together to just read his vows. It was so cute and moving to watch on my end as well!

There are couples that you photograph and never forget. Maddie and Jake are absolutely one of those couples. The way they look at each other, the way they support each other—it was something truly special to witness.

Wedding Party & Family Portraits

By 1:00pm, we moved into wedding party and family photos at the Inn at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club.

This part of the day flowed beautifully. Everyone was excited, supportive, and ready to celebrate Maddie and Jake. Having these portraits done ahead of time also allowed the couple to enjoy more of their reception later in the evening.

After portraits, we made our way over to the main venue space to prepare for the ceremony.

An Indoor Ceremony with a Unique Exit

The ceremony began at 3:30pm in the indoor ceremony space upstairs at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club.

Even though the ceremony was indoors, the atmosphere still felt connected to the waterfront setting outside. The room was filled with emotion as Maddie and Jake exchanged vows surrounded by the people who love them most.

There was laughter, happy tears, and that beautiful quiet moment right after they were pronounced married when the entire room erupted in celebration.

Their ceremony exit was unforgettable.

Instead of a traditional walk back down the aisle, guests created a sword arch indoors for the newlyweds to pass through—a dramatic and exciting moment that had everyone cheering.

Sunset Photos on the Chesapeake Bay

After the ceremony, we finished up the remaining family portraits before stepping outside around 4:30pm for sunset photos.

And I have to say—this was the most stunning sunset I have ever photographed at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club.

If you’re looking for a venue that truly delivers on waterfront sunsets, this is it.

The sky lit up with vibrant colors reflecting across the Chesapeake Bay, creating a breathtaking backdrop for Maddie and Jake’s portraits. The light was soft, warm, and absolutely perfect.

Moments like this are exactly why couples choose a Chesapeake Bay Beach Club wedding photographer who knows how to take advantage of the venue’s incredible scenery.

A Sunset Ballroom Reception Full of Energy

The reception began at 5:00pm in the Sunset Ballroom, one of the venue’s most iconic spaces.

And from the moment the music started, the energy in the room was incredible.

This reception was an absolute party.

Guests packed the dance floor, cheering and celebrating Maddie and Jake all night long. The love from their family and friends was undeniable, and the atmosphere was joyful, energetic, and full of excitement.

It’s always amazing when a wedding combines emotional moments with a reception that feels like the best party of the year.

Private Last Dance & paper airplane Exit

Around 8:50pm, Maddie and Jake shared a private last dance.

These moments are always so meaningful. After a full day surrounded by people, it’s a chance for the couple to pause, take everything in, and enjoy a quiet moment together as newlyweds.

Shortly after, guests gathered outside for their paper airplane exit at 9:00pm, sending the couple off with cheers and the uniqueness of the planes flying around their heads.

But the night wasn’t over yet.

Holiday Night Photos at the Inn

After the exit, we wandered back to The Inn at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club.

The property had beautiful holiday light installations set up for the season, creating the perfect opportunity for some fun nighttime portraits.

The glowing lights, cozy winter atmosphere, and relaxed energy made for the perfect ending to an unforgettable wedding day.
