There is something incredibly special about a backyard wedding — the familiarity, the comfort, the meaning woven into every corner. Macy and Justin’s fall wedding in Severn, Maryland was exactly that: deeply personal, beautifully intentional, and overflowing with love… and dogs.
Surrounded by their closest friends, family, and their beloved pups, Macy and Justin created a wedding day that felt like them in every possible way. From the crisp fall air to the warm, inviting reception space, this day was proof that the most meaningful weddings don’t need grand ballrooms — they need heart.
A Wedding Day Where the Dogs Truly Stole the Show
If you know Macy, you know dogs are not just a part of her life — they are her life. As a professional dog trainer, it was incredibly special to see her passion woven so seamlessly into their wedding day. Their dogs weren’t just present; they were involved in every aspect of the celebration.
And let me tell you — these dogs were absolute pros. Calm, joyful, and clearly so well-loved, you could see Macy’s training shine through in every moment. Whether they were greeting guests, hanging close during the ceremony, or simply soaking in the love, they were a true highlight of the day and a reflection of the care and dedication Macy puts into everything she does.
Thoughtful Details & a Reception Space Full of Fall Magic
Macy’s eye for design deserves a standing ovation. The table setup and décor were stunning — thoughtful, cozy, and perfectly suited for a fall backyard celebration. Warm tones, carefully chosen details, and a layout that made the space feel welcoming and intimate turned the reception into something truly special.
I’ll be honest… we took so many photos of the reception space. Every angle, every table, every little detail deserved to be documented. It wasn’t just beautiful — it told a story. A story of intention, creativity, and a couple who poured their hearts into creating an experience for the people they love most.
Why Wedding Photography Matters More Than We Realize
Wedding photography is about more than pretty images. It’s about freezing moments in time — moments you don’t realize will one day mean everything.
Macy shared something incredibly moving after receiving her gallery:
“I have so many wonderful things to say about these photos! Oh my. I’m going to keep it short and sweet right now because I want to make sure I get you a response and don’t leave you hanging.
These pictures came at just the right time. We have literally been reliving this best day of our lives for the last 3 days since you sent them.
On a very personal note… these pictures were not only remarkably special for obvious reasons… but, they also perfectly captured Martha, Justin’s mom. She passed away on December 30. Seeing these pictures surely took us for lots of emotions. Although it’s incredibly hard to look at those particular pictures right now… we are beyond thankful for you perfectly capturing her pure happiness and love for her son and family.
So Heather — thank you for that. Thank you for everything!!”
This is why photography matters.
You never know when a photo will become a memory you cling to. You never know when a laugh, a hug, or a quiet moment will be the last one captured. Wedding photos preserve love — not just between a couple, but between families, generations, and people who mean the world to us.
Being trusted with moments like these is something I will never take lightly.
A Day Filled With Love, Legacy, and So Much Heart
Macy and Justin’s wedding day was joyful, emotional, personal, and unforgettable. It was a reminder that the most beautiful weddings are the ones that reflect who you are — your passions, your people, and the love you share.
Thank you, Macy and Justin, for trusting me to tell your story. Your day was an honor to witness, and your memories will forever live on through these images.
And yes… the dogs absolutely stole the show.
